Beware of Dove
If you’re anything like myself you never take the time to analyze what type of soap you use. It’s an easy decision, Dove for Men.
What if I told you the soap you’re using is putting your health in danger? You see, being a former athlete I always had bad acne breakouts on my back. I figured this came from sweating all the time, so I never thought anything of it.
If you’re using Dove or any of chemical based soap (all mainstream soaps) then I want you to pay attention to what happens to your skin after you shower. Does it get very dry? Do you feel energetic or lethargic? Soap is made of different chemicals and compounds, so with every chemical there’s a reaction.
You may not experience any problems now, but these soaps can be causing some real harm to your life down the line.
Think about it this way, if you’re a farmer you know you have a certain time to sell your fruits and vegetables before they rot. You want to make as much revenue as possible, so you decide to put the fruits and vegetables in cans and add harmful preservatives to keep the food from rotting. You have a family to feed, so you don’t care that the preservatives are harmful to the people buying it. It’s a harsh reality but this goes for personal care products as well.
The Dangers of Parabens
Parabens are a common preservative found in lotion, shampoo, body wash, and many cosmetics. Many men including myself have no clue what a paraben is and frankly don’t care but after losing a close friend of mine to cancer, who was in perfect shape, I decided to look more into it.
The information I found was staggering. Why didn’t more people know about the harm parabens cause to their body? I figured people are either misinformed or they don’t care. Either way I’m going to tell you what’s really in the soap you’re using.
Parabens are not only bad for your skin but they can also cause serious health issues. They are endocrine disruptive which are absorbed into the bloodstream and affect many of our body’s natural functions.
The endocrine system consists of glands that produce and release hormones which control important body functions such as our ability to convert calories into energy for healthy functioning of cells and organs.
The endocrine system also affects your heart beat, bone and tissue growth, as well as your ability to reproduce. Endocrine disruption can lead to many health problems such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disease, sexual dysfunction, infertility, and numerous other hormone-related disorders.
How to Spot Parabens in Your Soap and Other Personal Care Products

If you’re using liquid body wash you’re most at risk due to these products having the most parabens. Just like food, the ingredients in body wash can rot. The parabens preserve the soap keeping it “fresh” until the expiration date. This is why it’s important to start checking the ingredients in the soaps you’re using.
Some common parabens include:
- Butylparaben
- Propylparaben
- Ethylparaben
- Methylparaben
These are sometimes listed by their chemical names such as Butyl Hydroxybenzoate and Propyl Hydroxybenzoate.
Both Butylparaben and Propylparaben are on the Danish and European Commission danger list.
Cetaphil, QV and many other branded commercial cleansers are guilty of using methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben.
To make things worse, they also contain Propylene Glycol which is a chemical to help absorption through the skin into the body. This means even more of the parabens and unwanted harmful chemicals in these products are absorbed into your body system when you use these chemical-laden cleansers!
Make Soap REAL Again
If you want to smell fresh and actually clean your body the natural and healthy way there’s a few inexpensive alternatives. To be honest, going to Walmart, Target, or any of these stores is not the best solution when buying personal care products. Remember, what you wear is not only going on you but in you as well. This includes deodorants, cologne, soap, shampoo, etc. I did some digging and found shanjorco.com. I wanted to try a natural, handmade soap and this website looked like it had everything I needed. I was new to this so I did some research on the bestseller SeaMoss + Eucalyptus soap.
I’m very familiar with Dr. Sebi’s Diet and I was actually taking Sea Moss as a supplement and it made me feel great. I was surprised to see it as a soap but it sparked my interest, so I gave it a try.
After one use I was impressed at the results! It gave my body a natural cooling feeling and I didn’t get that dry, after shower skin. Not only did it have my skin feeling smoother, it also had me smelling better than usual. My girl actually complimented had good I smelt after my shower and how good my skin looked. She figured I used one of her products, but after reading the labels I realized she was at danger too. So, I did what any good boyfriend would do and I made her buy her own SeaMoss Soap Bar (just kidding).
You can try the SeaMoss + Eucalyptus Soap Bar plus many other handmade, organic soaps here https://shanjorco.com/
